	The Annual cricket tournament, ”Embassy Cup 2011″ took place on the 2^nd July 2011 at the ground of the Peoples Friendship University of Russian Federation organized by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation, 4th successive year with the participation of Sri Lankan students from Russian State Universities and the Sri Lankan business community in Moscow.

	A “Pahan Pooja” Ceremony in conjunction with the Commemoration of 2600^th Sri Sambuddathva Jayanthiya was conducted under the patronage of H. E. the Ambassador with the participation of two Sri Lankan and three foreign Buddhist clergy on the 17^th of May 2011.

	The Attorney General of Sri Lanka Mr. Mohan Peiris visited the Russian Federation on 14^th to 17th May 2011 on an invitation extended by the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation. an agreement was signed on cooperation between the Attorney General’s Department of Sri Lanka and the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation.

	Sri Lanka Ambassador in Russian Federation Udayanga Weeratunga was the keynote speaker at a seminar held in Moscow at the Ambassadors Residences Thursday the 10th. The theme of the seminar was “Why Invest in Sri Lanka”.Around 50 senior business executives, government representatives, and media representatives participated at this event.
Kursk State Medical University students graduate

	10^th February the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation H.E. Udayanga Weeratunga took the opportunity to hand over diplomas to 13 Sri Lankan students graduated from Kursk State Medical University in January 2011. The Ambassador wished them for many achievements in their future. These students have completed practical trainings and successfully completed Final state examinations.
Reception for Tea Industry

	Tea Reception took place at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow. Representatives of Tea industry and Russian distributors took part at the event. “I know that Pure Ceylon tea is in demand. I call you to bring with pride the quality of the Ceylon tea in you products. I am sure, that in the future it will make big success for your business”, told the Ambassador to the audience.
PRODEXPO 2011 Trade Fair

	18^th International Trade Fair PRODEXPO 2011 the largest international food & beverage exhibition in Russia and Eastern Europe was held 07^th till 11^th February, 2011 in Expocenter, Moscow. Sri Lanka Tea Board participated with the support of Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russian Federation and together with Ceylon Tea Land (pvt) Ltd & Sri Lanka Tea Bags (pvt) Ltd. In addition, major Sri Lankan tea exporters such as Imperial Tea Export Ltd, Jafferjee Brothers, Empire Teas (Pvt) Ltd, Riston Teas (Pvt) Ltd, Regency Teas (Pvt) Ltd, Dilmah Teas, HVA Foods Ltd, Tea Tang (Pvt) Ltd, St. clairs, Basilur Tea and Ceylon Fresh Tea Company.
63rd Independence Day Celebration in Moscow

	The Sri Lankan Ambassador H.E. Mr. Udayanga Weeratunga hosted a reception at the Residence of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia in celebration of the 63rd Anniversary of the Independence of Sri Lanka. More than 150 people attended the reception. Among them are Hon. A. Borodavkin, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russian Federation, heads of diplomatic missions, some governmental officials, members of parliament, and members of Sri Lankan Diaspora. The reception was held in a very friendly atmosphere. All main invited guest participated for the lighting of the traditional oil lamp.
